Jess & Jenny Frame by Frame

Frame to frame analysis of Psycho:





20 Frames stops after 6 minutes 39 seconds.


Frame One - Panning long shot of the city, this shows the audience where it is set.

Frame Two - Slowly zooming into a window. 

Frame Three - Zooming into the room and shows a women lying down in a bed and a man standing by her, you can only see the man from waist down. 

Frame Four - The shot then cuts to a table of food.

Frame Five - Then there is a mid shot of the man from waist up, in the same shot they are kissing on the bed.

Frame Six - This shows her getting up from the bed in a mid shot and a high angle shot of her walking towards the camera, and then shows the man get up from the bed and sit on the chair.  

Frame Seven -  Then a shot shows the man getting up from the chair, facing the women.

Frame Eight - The shot then flips to the woman just facing the man with constant dialogue.


Frame Nine - Flips to a shot of the couple talking. Standard shot. Then tracks the man walking and putting on his clothes.


Frame Ten - Then flips back to the women


Frame Eleven- The shot then flips back to the man looking out the window.


Frame Twelve- Then flips back to the women in a mid shot with constant dialogue throughout.


Frame Thirteen- Stood talking, messing around with the rope from the blinds.


Frame Fourteen- A mid shot of the women turning around and looking in the mirror.


Frame Fifteen- Tracking the man walking towards then women and shows them talking and then kissing. The shot then zooms in on the women after the man walks away.


Frame Sixteen- Shows the man standing at the window facing the women who is off camera, dialogue throughout this shot.


Frame Seventeen- Shows the women talking to the man who is off camera.


Frame Eighteen- Shows the man stood at the window, not talking in this shot.


Frame Nineteen- Shows the women not talking at a close up shot.


Frame Twenty- Shows the man stood at the window not talking and not showing any facial expressions at all.
